Hello, welcome and please join us! The group is run by Ursula and Felicity and we are a very active group, meeting every week on a Thursday come rain, hail or shine!
We absolutely love our volunteers and we have become close friends, chatting constantly and enjoying lunch while we sew, pin, iron and cut to make a positive difference to the environment.
Whittlesea Township is a country town right at the end of Plenty road in Melbourne’s north. Our local Men’s Shed made us three Boomerang bag boxes and these are stationed at the IGA supermarket, Delightful Frootz green grocer and the Monday bric a brac Market at Whittlesea Showgrounds. We also supply the Primary school, library, various cafes and gift shops etc whenever we can.
We are extremely grateful to the Whittlesea Community House for their hospitality, guidance and support these last few years. We alternate each Thursday between our home at the House and meeting room 2 at the Library. Working with the House allows us to help those who need to meet their 15hrs of in-kind volunteer obligations.
Here are our meeting dates for the first semester of 2020:
Whittlesea Community House, 92A Church St, Whittlesea:
April 23rd & 30th
May 14th & 28th
June 11th & 25th
Whittlesea Community Activity Centre, Laurel St, Whittlesea:
May 7th & 21st
June 4th & 18th
Where should people donate materials?:
Fabric of any kind (doonas, sheets, table cloths, quilting scraps, offcuts etc), thread and sewing supplies are always needed and gratefully accepted during opening hours at the Whittlesea Community House 92 Church Street, Whittlesea and the Whittlesea Library on Laurel St. We can always arrange to pick up donations if you’re not able to drive etc. Please email Felicity and Ursula [email protected] or call or text Ursula 0431312647 any time for more info or details.
