Boomerang Bags Kaipatiki North Shore, Auckland.
Boomerang Bags Kaipatiki, North shore, Auckland started in March 2017 after we saw a post about these fabulous groups making reusable bags from unwanted material. My sister said, “I wish someone would set that up here.” And then we thought, that someone could be us!
So we collected material and made some bags and then invested in a screen to print our pockets. After a little while we were approached by a local community organisation that wanted to support us in our project and fund us. So for a couple of years we were supported by the Kaipatiki Community Facilities Trust. It was a huge blessing to use their sewing machines and venues for sewing bees.
Now Boomerang Bags can be made each week at sewing groups at the Beach Haven / Birkdale Community House on Thursdays mornings and Highbury House Tuesday mornings. The best way to get in touch with the sewing groups is to connect direct with the community house or look on their facebook pages.
