Boomerang Bags Glenorchy
The Glenorchy Boomerang Bags Community was launched in May 2020 by Laurel Cuff; Community Development Officer for Children, Youth & Families at Glenorchy City Council and enthusiastic but somewhat sketchy seamstress.
Launching during the COVID-19 crisis, our starting aim is to make bags for distributing care packages to vulnerable members of the Glenorchy community during this difficult period of isolation.
It’s a win-win-win. Recipients get a unique and useful item that’s been lovingly handmade, makers use up scrap or second hand material and brush up their hands-on creative skills and the environment enjoys the diversion of (potentially a lot of) plastic and waste fabric from landfill!
Once the pandemic is behind us, there’s no end to the creative ways our sewing skills can be put to use for the good of the Tasmanian community.
