Boomerang Bags Lake Taupō

Our group has been going since summer 2017. With a core group of about 6 people we organise roughly one sewing bee per month with numbers from 12 – 30 showing up. We have great support from Rotary, who let us use their club rooms for free and the council,  other businesses and schools who have been purchasing bags to donate to several good causes.

We are particular proud of having produced over 10,000 bags by now (classic ones, wet bags from parachutes and produce bags) mostly by some incredibly industrious individuals, but also by the wider community. All from materials donated from businesses, OP shops and individuals – diverting a whole bunch of waste from landfill.

Come and join us – we are always welcoming new people and getting into new designs and ideas!
