Thames Ditton Boomerang Bags
Thames Ditton Boomerang Bags was set up in 2017 in the village of Thames Ditton and was the first High Street in the UK to introduce the bags to its independent shops to give out free to customers instead of plastic bags. There are three collection points in the High Street (dry cleaners, pub and Community Centre) where residents donate their second hand fabric and the Boomerang Bags are made at the Thames Ditton Boomerang Bag Club at the local Centre for the Community and by local sewing bees at home. They are also made by local schools and community groups. Thames Ditton Boomerang Bags have mentored other BB groups in the Borough of Elmbridge and beyond, with the mission of eliminating single-use plastic bags from our UK towns and villages.
