St Mary’s Parish School is a P-10 School for students who live both in town and on properties in the surrounding Goondiwindi area. project started with our Year Seven Classes making Boomerang Bags as part of our design and technology class. We are looking forward to help change the world with a simple different use of material to a plastic bag.
Our materials have been donated by community members from our school, parish and the greater Goondiwindi area. We initially started sewing during class time, however we loved it so much that we are now sewing through lunchtimes as well.
We are very lucky to have some very talented teachers, parents and school officers to support our wildly untalented Design Tech teacher, Mr Capra. With their help, he is learning at a pace slightly slower than the rest of the class and we are looking forward to seeing his and our skills develop throughout the year.
Our bags are being used as spare library bags, shopping bags by our families and many have been gifted to shoppers in our local community.
